Abstract

Immigration has become a central theme in global politics, presenting both opportunities and challenges for host societies. While migration can enrich labor markets and foster multiculturalism, immigrants often encounter barriers to full social and economic integration. This paper explores the dynamics of immigration policy and social integration by examining the structural impediments that hinder immigrants’ participation in host societies. Using a multidisciplinary perspective, the study identifies economic barriers such as limited labor market access, wage inequality, and credential recognition issues, alongside social challenges including discrimination, linguistic divides, and inadequate housing opportunities. The paper also critically evaluates host country policy responses, ranging from restrictive measures to inclusive frameworks that promote multiculturalism and social cohesion. The findings suggest that comprehensive immigration policies emphasizing equity, skills recognition, and anti-discrimination measures significantly enhance integration outcomes. Graphical representations of comparative integration indices, labor participation rates, and educational attainment among immigrant groups further illustrate the disparities and progress achieved. A policy-oriented framework is proposed, emphasizing the need for coordinated efforts in education, employment, healthcare, and civic participation. Ultimately, this study underscores that successful immigrant integration is contingent not only on state-led policies but also on broader societal commitment to diversity and inclusivity.
